Liberal chairman

NORTH VANCOUVER-Seymour MLA Daniel Jarvis
has taken on the job of B.C. Liberal caucus chairman
following a Liberal caucus meeting held in Kamloops
eartier this week.
. The caucus voted to repiace Art Cowie as chairman.
~The move is seen by some political pundits as a reward
for the support Jarvis has shown party leader Gordon
Wilson over his No pesition in the constitutional refer-
endum debate.

Cowie has come out in support of the constitutional
reforms proposed.

Traffic mayhem

THE WEST Vancouver Police had their hands full Sept.

‘23 as sumerous urivers suffered mishaps during the first
major rainfall of ic season.

"Phe police were called to the 1200-block of the Upper
‘Levels Highway just after 8 a.m. when two vehicles col-
ded. The occupant of one vehicle was injured when the
car tipped and came to a rest on the driver's side.

cei” At 8:44 am. police responded to an accident at In-

. glewood Avenue and 1ith Street.

‘: According fo a police spokesman, a vehicle ran
through a stop sign and struck a vehicle. A 48-year-old
West Yancouver man faces a charge of failing to yield
after stopping.

_. At 2:46 p.m. a vehicle slid into a concrete barrier in
the 400-block of the Upper Levels Highway. A 47-year-
old woman suffered back «juries.

. Meanwhile, o pedestrian was struck while attempiing
to crose the street at 16th Street and Marine Drive at
approximately 2:50 p.m.

- . The woman ‘suffered leg and hip injuries.

- Officer charged

A: VANCOUVER Poiice officer faces an assault charge
in West Vancouver provincial court Oct. 5.

Sgt: Pavel Andrash was charged fotlowing an incident
‘alleged to bave occurred on July 18 in a ferry lineup at
* the Horseshce Bay ferry terminal.
