Dear Editor: I would like to respond to Mr. Riedlinger’s report in your Nov. 3 issue. | am furious at this man’s commenis in response to Lower Lonsdale residents’ concerns. 1 dare Mr. Riedlinger to allow a beer and wine parlor directly across the street from his front yard. Are you awakened at 10 or 11 o’clock at night to sounds of perverse coarse language, car Stereos that are on full blast, horns, etc.? 1 doubt this very rauch. If this were happening in your neighborhood, Mr. Ried!- inger, Iam sure the RCMP would be there in an instant. In response to your claim that the RCMP praise your business, it Violence article misleads Dear Editor: This is in regard to your articles in the North Shore News dated : . 30 and Nov. 3, about the problems that plague the Lower ‘west Loasdale area. ~~ Sam quoted as saying that there was a rape in the Sailor Hagar’s parking lot, when in fact on Oct. 28 at a city council meeting | stated } had recently heard of a rape in the park beside the apart- ment underground parking area. if the two reporters had compared their notes ‘this incident would have not occuzred. 3 take this statement very seriously as it blinds the true issues that require the proper at- tention. | was asked to represent the Lower Lonsdale’s tenant association for the problems con- cerning violence, vandalism, park- ing, beer and wine store noise, and safety of the people in the area. The Nov. 3 articie is misleading and pcorly investigated. The reel issues and statements are backed - wp by over 120 residents in the area. in vesponse to Mr. Ricdlinger’s statement, I agree: Don’t publish anything until the real facts are all taken into consideration. In conclusion, beer and wine Store patrons come and go; they don’t live in the area, and don’t have to put up with all the prob- . lems. Maybe ail the people creating the problems should stay home one night so lt can sit on their lawn and keep their kids awake all aight! Alcoholism isn’t an cniertainment, it's a soctal problem! MAILBOX Lower Lonsdale residents fed up is no wonder as they never res- pond to our many frequent calls (therefore nothing seen — nothing done), as they have higher priority matters to attend to. I can also state, Mr. Riedlinger, that you are very wrong in response to your claim of no gang activity. | know of three people who have been attacked by gang members hanging out in this area (waiting for someone to buy off- sales for them). How can you claim such facts, when you are obviously unaware of any of the goings-on in this neighborhood? You have turned a blind eye to it all. We have on many occasions gone over to your site and re- quested that your staff not serve patrons that are obviously intox- icated. (This is not hard to detect as I have seen people literally fall- ing down the steps of your site, get into their cars and drive away.) The residents of Lower Lons- dale are fed up with the noise pollution in our neighborhood, and we won’t back down until something is done.
