Since Nov. 25, the familiar Ar- my kettles have been ‘‘singing’’ on busy street corners. The monies collected will give food, clothing, shelter and hope to those for whom society is unable to take re- sponsibility during the Christmas season and to support the social services programs year round. Over the holidays, the Salvation Army helps 34,000 people. Nearly 5,000 Christmas food baskets and vouchers are being prepared for needy families in Greater Van- couver. In addition to the 300 meals served each day, all year-round, at Vancouver’s Harbour Light, 2,000 men will be served Christmas din- ner by volunteers on Christmas ] ay.
