K - Wednesdays, Adgust 3, 1988 - North Shore News MAaILBox a ‘Cancel Dear Editor: Mr. Chris Weiz said it all regar- ding Shaw Cuable’s addition of three stations —— none of which | want. Nor | suspect do most of the subscribers to TY. | haven't spoken to one person who wishes to have any of these particular sta- tions. . 1 also wrote to the Secretary General of the Commission as outlined (not very clearly) on the back of the advice and I received an answer a page long which told me absolutely nothing. In fact, I believe it was an exercise in futility as they have already decided to force these stations onto their subscribers, like it or not. Rogers Cable have followed suit and why VANDER ZALM your ion’ would they do that if it was nat already pretty well a positive ac- tian, lagree with Mr. Weiz that if all the subseribers would pull together and cancel their caublevision we would soon get some action and we wouldn't be saddled with these useless programs. The weather can be determined already through TV, radio and the weather telephone number, we do not need any more fake or money-hungry Televangelists. Come on North Van -~ get behind Mr. Weiz and cancel your television. I'm sure it wouldn't be for Jong. Janet Shaw North Vancouver MLA backs premier Dear Editor: Bill Vander Zalm is the best leader I have worked with in poli- tics. That includes Mike Pearson, Pierre Trudeau, and John Turner at the federal level, and W.A.C. Bennett and Bill Bennett in Vic- toria. He listens, you can change his mind and he backs you up when the going gets tough. B.C.’s premier is accessible to ministers, MLAs, party members and the press. He is candid in his comments. He is direct, not devious, and prepared to act on short notice. if Bill Vander Zalm has a fault it is his openness with the press. He doesn’t hold anything back. He is a communicator par excellence. Now, however, he is being punish- ed for his forthrightness. Sul, 1 would rather have a premier who is “straight up’’ on all issues, who tells things as they are and who is prepared to take chances on the information front. Better Bill Vander Zalm, by far, than the smooth talkers, manipulators and egotists who are keen to take his place. Jack Davis, MLA North Vancouver-Seymour RESCUE SOCIETIES Groups not Dear Editor: The North Shore Rescue Team Society (North and West Van- couver) wishes to advise your readers that it is not associated ia any way with the Search and Rescue Society of B.C.
