spot in relay race

THE TEAM of David Jensen, Bob Sewell, Gordy MacLennan and
Michael White topped the team category in the recent Cypress Bowl
Mountain Challenge road and trail relay race.

Coming in first in the men’s solo category was Jolin Sveen at 52:51,
followed by Mike Reid at 53:19.

In the womei’s solo category, first place went to Gri#! Orsten at
1:09.32; Anne Bates was second at 1:18.00.

Squamish regatta
sets sail Aug. 6

THE SQUAMISH Open Annual Regatta sails this year Aug. 6 and 7 on
Howe Sound. ‘

Hosted. by the Squamish Yacht Club, SOAR as-it is known offers
something for every type of sailor — from high-speed multi-hull racers to
occasional racers.

SOAR offers a choice of a 211%2-mile Anvil Island course or a 15%-
mile Defence Island course, each with a cruiser division as well as full
racing divisions. ° :

Competitors need not be yacht club members, nor do they need regis-
tered sail numbers, as only Ministry of Transport safety equipment is re-
quired.

In other racing news, the Squamish-Brunswich Point return race runs
Aug. 7.
