Lending a hand

TWO HOMES operated by the North Shore Association for the Mentally
Handicapped received some special attention earlier this month.

The Sterling Community Service Foundation mustered the collective
manpower of 80 volunteers and brought the spirit of Christmas alive. The
volunteers spent an afternoon overhauling and sprucing up the Pierard
House and Lynn Valley group home fa
Leonard Winchester, abuve, and Richard Carey hammer down the
shingles.on a new shed roof at Lynn Valley House. Clay Smalley, feft,
adds the finishing touch to a window pane for the home. Forty cities
across North America were linked by. the volunteer efforts of thousands
simultaneously contributing (to community projects sponsored by the
foundation. Local businesses contributed supplies and the North Shore
Neighbourhood House youth group helped by contributing volunteers.
