OLE! I was up for a Mexican fiesta so I invited a few friends to join me at Cisco’s California Style Mexican Restaurant at [2th and Lonsdale in North Vancouver. The atmosphere was great. Tastefully decorated with many Mexican artifacts and staff dressed in traditional costumes. ‘ We started the evening by ordering a pitcher of margaritas ($9.95) and mun- ched on a complimentary basket of taco chips accom- panied by a tangy dish of hot sauce. When our friendly waitress returned she placed what seemed like a small magazine in front of us. This took me completely by surprise — a new Cisco’s menu 12 pages long! The items varied from Cisco’s Mexican specialties to a selection of salads, sandwiches, ham- burgers, pizzas and egg dishes ... to mention just a few. The four of us decided to «ample and share numerous appetizers (both Mexican and conventional). All the ap- petizers, small and large, ranged in price from. $2.95 to $5.95. e overlooking English Bay at the corner of Denman and Davie. 11:00 am - 3:00 Reservations 682- of, We began with quesadillas (cheese, tomatoes and onions wrapped in a flour tortilla), potato skins, chicken fingers, and queso fundido (a fondue of melted cheese). To follow we chose the tor- tilla chip heaven (a selection of four tasty dips), garlic mushrooms, zucchini sticks and calamare. While we enjoyed all the food items I felt that the ex- tensive change in the menu has taken away from the restaurant’s ethnic authen- ticity. Yet it does provide diners with the opportunity to dine in a pleasant at- mosphere, order one specific meal or nibble on appetizers that come in a variety of sizes. The bill for the four of us including two pitchers of margaritas was $59.50. IDLE CHATTER: West Vancouver’s Chez Michel restaurant has a new dinner menu ...
