SWIM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Oakes named best

JANET OAKES, a Carson
Graham student, was named
the outstanding athlete at the
recent B.C. high school
swimming championships.

Oakes won the girls B 50
metre freestyle event with a
time of 29:31 seconds, was
second in the 100m freestyle,
with a time of 1:03.97 and
swam on two Carson
Graham winning relay teams
—in the B 200 mixed freestyle
relay and the 200m mixed
medley relay.

The top North Shore
school in the event was Sen-
tinel, fifth with 104 points,
well behind the winner,

Centennial School from Co-
quitlam. Handsworth finish-
ed sixth with 95 points, and
Argyle was seventh with 83.

Jess Howard (Hands).
They finished 3rd and 4th
