mitted for trial by judge and
jury at county court on
charges arising from the rape
of a 16-year-old North
Vancouver girl September
26.

Jaromir Dvorak, aged 20,
formerly of West Vancouver
and now living in Surrey,
faces charges of rape, ab-
duction, indecent assault
and assault causing bodily
-harm.

Police are alleging that the
girl was abducted at
knifepoint from outside St.
Paul's Hospital in downtown
Vancouver by a man who
forced her into a car and

Jury trial for
rape of NV girl

said to have driven her to
West Vancouver, where she
managed to escape by
climbing through a _ rear
window of the car. She ran
to a nearby house and the
occupant alerted West
Vancouver police.

At a preliminary hearing
held in provincial court in
Vancouver Thursday, Judge
Gerald Coultas ruled there
was sufficient evidence for
committal. Dvorak elected
to stand tnal before judge
and jury on all counts.

hectic 80 m.p.h. car chase
through North Shore streets.
