Taylormotive wins hockey playoffs THE NORTH Vancouver Tayformotive Pee Wee A’‘s won the Greater Vancouver Conference hockey playoffs after defeating Richmond 4-1 in the final game of the six-game round robin. Although falling behind 1-0 in the first period — a score which remained until early in the third —- North Vancouver rallied to notch four uianswered goals, sealing their undefeated playoff re- cord. Lada Hampeis returned from a bout with the flu to score North Vancouver's first goal followed by goals from Julien Jorgenson, Brent Chapman and Scot Dickson. Playing in his second playoff game, Aaron Mayhew was called upon to make several saves to prevent the Richmond visitors from making a comeback. The North Vancouver team will now be heading to Prince George the week of March 19 to play in the Pacific Coast Cham- pionships. Badminton players net four titles NORTH SHORE badminton players produced a near-sweep of their events at the Canadian Junior National Badminton Champi- onships in Quebec. West Vancouver’s Brent Olynyk and Darryl Yung beat John Horwood and Ian Carscadden 15-8, 15-8 in men’s doubles in the junior under-19 age group. Olynyk teamed up with Rowena Ong, also of West Vancouver, to defeat Milaine Cloutier and Bryan Moody in junior mixed dou- bles. : Meanwhile Ong’s younger sister, Moira, downed her identical twin Elma 2-11, 11-6, 11-6 to win the ladies’ single in the juvenile age group. The twins teamed up to beat Ali Khan and Dhana Khan, also a B.C. team, to snag the juvenile ladies’ doubles titte with a 15-7, 15-7. In juvenile mixed doubies, Elma Ong and Jean Phillippe Gayette fell to Dhana Khan and Morgan Vanheukelom 7-15, 15-7, 12-15,. Nordic, Norvan top divisions THE COACHES Soccer League finally completed its schedule Sunday after a lengthy, weather-induced delay, with the end result that Norvan Old-Timers and Nordic, as division champions, will meet this Sunday for the Kilbey Cup. Nordic completed another successful season atop the Eastern Division standings with a 7-2 thrashing of the hottom team, Rogers Pro Sports. Norvan amassed the same point total as Nordic in winning the Western Division, finishing with a strong effort in a 5-0 white- washing of Foster's Pacific. Rangers got goals from seven different players, including Terry MeQueen’s first of the season, as they toppled Castlemaine XXXX In other action, F.C. Germania edged Olympia Goldeaps 3-2, Saitor Hagar’s moved out of the Western basement by shading Candia Taverna 2-1, Mt. Seymour Ravens trounced Molson’s 5-0 and Accountemps battled O.K. Tires to a 0-0 stalemate. The Kilbey Cup Final between Nordic and Norvan Old-Timers will be played March 15 at noon at Kinsinen Stadium. Caps crush Scribes CAPILANOS FIRST XV showed they were back in form with a 23-3 win over Scribes at Klahani Park on Saturday. Mark Shtenko proved to be a re- liable kicker as he converted a Doug Speraza try and booted a penalty goal to give the locals a 9-0 lead at the half. After the interval, Scribes came back strongly with a drop goal but two tries from Mike Turnbull and atry from Clayton Wick converted by Shtenko sealed the victory. Other weekend rugby action had Capilanos Seconds beat Bayside Seconds 28-4, and Capilanos Thirds overcame Ex. Britannia 22-7. Capilanos Fourths lost to Scribes Fourths 13-20 while Capilanos Juniors trounced U.B.C. Old Boy Juniors 26-3. In over 40’s action, Snow Caps lost 10-24 to Valley Vintage.
