N. Shore paramedic gets new position AFTER SPENDING 11 years riding in ambulances, a North Shore paramedic is switching off the lights and sirens for a more peaceful way of life. fan Dailly, 36, who was born and raised in North Vancouver and continues to live in Horseshoe Bay, has been appointed to the post of program director of technical programs with the Emergency Health Services Academy (EHSA), run by the Justice Institute of B.C. In addition, Dailly has also been appointed the deputy direc- tor of the EHISA, making him se- cond in command. Although he will now be work- ing for the Justice Institute of B.C., Dailly will still have strong ties with his former employer, the B.C. Ambulance Service. Part of his new role as program director will be to be accountable for the development and delivery of EHSA training and education Programs geared towards B.C. Ambulance Service employees. In his role as deputy director, Dailly will assist the director in running the day-to-day operations of the EHSA, which involves a full time staff of 14, a contract staff of 10 and 200 adjunct facul-. ty, made up of doctors, nurses and community tutors. Dailly, who has worked out of ¢ the North Vancouver unit of the B.C. Ambulance Service for the past two years, and who is mar- ried with children, said one of the reasons he decided to leave the ambulance service was because he feit rescue calls involving young children were beginning to affect him personally. “*] find the job affects me more when I’m dealing with children,”’ said Dailly. **It_ (ambulance job) certainly has its moments. You never know when or where or what. I won’t be missing the night shifts, that’s for sure,” Dailly said.
