ment, such as Jack Davis, Doug
Mowatt and Russ Fraser, BC's
new solicitor general, and members
of the consular corps,
headed by U.S. Con. Gen. Sam
Fromowitz and his petite wife

Joan, and the U.K. Con. Gen., the
witty, pipe-smoking, Brian
Watkins and his equally charming
wife, Libby. Ar that time, the
room was humming with specula-
tion over the cabinet shuffle, with
the smart money, logically, on Russ
and John.

Despite her husband’s new and
challenging job, Yvonne has been
very busy herself. She was totally
involved in Wednesday night's
sold-out Howe Street Awards at
the Hyatt.

She co-chaired this event along
with North Van's Nick Massee,
prominent banker and Ballet BC
enthusiast. They've expanded the
awards this year to more accurate-
ly reflect the state of the brokerage
industry.

Wonderful dinner at Chartwell

a silver platter.

Debbie, and sons, Anthony and
Brian, have just moved into their

Very elegant reception at Le
Meridien last Thursday at the
wind-up of the French Bi-
Centennial. Hosting the gaia affair
in the well-lit ballroom was general
manager Jacques Ferriere and his
helpful staff.

well, for Bernard Ledun, the
newly-arrived French Con. Gen.,
who welcomed the hundreds of

guests, including Premier Bill
Vander Zalm and his wife, Lillian,
and the Hon. Rita Johnson.

It was M. Ledun who graciously
presented Premier Vander Zalm

with a bas relief from the people of

France to the people of B.C., as a

the Yaletown Galleria) on
Mainland last Thursday night. The
concept, the open, airy design, the
colors and the ambiance are ideal
in this vastly-remodelled building.

This “is a five-storey converted
warehouse that was built in 1921.
They have 17 tenants so far, in-
cluding the unique wholesale
design centre that brings together
all types of products and services
for the design industry — right in
the very heart of downtown
Vancouver!

The imaginative owners are
West Van businessmen Paolo and
Guido Pela, who received the ap-
propriate kudos from the invited
guests on their investment and
their expertise. It truly is a sight to

behold! ... Cheers!
