The Grade 11 Seycove student and two North Shore students, Rebecca Bates and Sarah Dakin, left the dog days of summer behind July 15 for a one-month cultural tour of Africa. “Pve never been to Africa. It will be a great cultural experi- ence,"’ declared an elated Nor- cross, one of 15 Lower Mainland students to be chosen for the trip offered by the Vancouver branch of the United Nations Association of Canada. When they return to Vancouver they will share what they [earned with fellow classmates and the community through slide shows and presentat- ions. The tour is being funded by the federal Canadian international Development Agency’s Youth Ini- tiative Fund and by the Save the Children Fund. Each student is also required to raise $1,400 from the community.
