A former candidate in
Victoria municipal elec-
tions, Mingay is communica-
uons director of Regional
Council No. 1 of the Interna-
tional Woodworkers of
America (LWA).

He describes himself as a
“long term NDP activist
throughout B.C.”, having
worked aS a campaign
manager. He 1s also a former
radio broadcaster and
freelance journalist.

Mingay accuses the Ben-
nett government of building
memorials to itself while
largely ignomng unemploy-
ment. He says he 1s standing
because he is fed up with
that same government ignor-
