Faculty Association (CCFA),. many,of the faculty at the College. ; Kilian said more than 100 members — of the college faculty association. met earlier this month and unanimously supported the. current ;system, in which coordinators. are elected by the faculty to work aS ad- ministrators - within departments. _ He. said this system “provides a close link between deans and faculty.” . “If directors are appointed ... administrative difficulties will increase substancially.” “Relations between college and administration would reach their lowest point in the college’s history.” He said there is a fear directors would “serve as insulators ‘for senior ad- ministrators” and act as “convenient sacrificial victims.” “We came here to educate students, not to fight wars against the administration.” But Kilian said, “The CCFA has no alternative but to strongly condemn the Capilano College ad- ministration for their unilateral action.” He said the faculty association would refuse to participate in any committee appointed to hire the new directors. Kilian also read a series of motions passed by the Capilano College Student Society which supported the CCPA. Most board members commented favorably on the brief. Ian Edgar, a, board member, pointed ‘out that the college was growing considerably and that the deans were possibly becoming too busy to handle the administrative workload satisfactorily.
