Musical ‘reading’ day set

A “Reading” is probably
the most exciting musical
experience there is for
people who play or sing and
who can read music. The
miracle of jointly creating
patterns of sound by
deciphering a written code
never ceases to amaze. The
thnill of being a part of that
sound ts a special experience
for any musician, and when
the sound is the glorious one
of combined choir and
orchestra it's a high not to be
forgotten.

On Saturday, November
22 North Shore string players
and singers will be able to
indulge in a day-long work-

shop reading through the
Schubert Mass in G and the
Vivaldi Gloria. The work-
shop is sponsored by the
North Shore Chamber Music
Society who have invited
Albert LaFrance, Assistant
Professor of Music at the
University of Alberta, and
currently on leave at the
University of Victoria, to
direct the music-making.
