The volunteer organiza- tion had struggled = with fundraising efforts for the new command vehicle. Jones had launched a cam- paign called == Operation Rescue. Last year the 40-member volunteer force participated in 60 rescues on the North Shore mountains, throughout the Fraser Valley and in other parts of the province and Washington state. To date this year, the team has attended approximately 40 rescues. With this month just start- ed and December still to come, the team will likely see another 20 or more calls. The team’s existing vehicle is more than 10 years old. It’s a sluggish haul up the hills and the brakes on the truck are a real concern for team members.
