THEODORA Armstrong, 17, a Handswerth Secondary Student, created the photo that won a spot in a North Shore News ad cam- paign. The Artists For Kids Trust organized and sponsored a career preparation pro- gram in photography for 28 selected senior secondary students from North Vancouver schools this Spring. The program was developed to advance student skills in lighting and to create an awareness of photographer/client needs through a competitive work experience assign- ment for the North Shore News. The young photographers spent 32 hours in intensive training with Dave and Mark Montizambert, recognized leaders in specialized lighting and product photography. Agrios outlined her needs to the stu- dents for a promotional campaign to interest responsible young people in being carriers for the newspaper. * With the help of the experienced photographers, students were coached in developing creative solutions for. their client. Despite strict deadlines,and poor weather conditions, the student photog- raphers developed a variety of solu- tions to the problem.The final selection was made by News photographer Terry Peters. Armstrong's photogenic younger sister posed for her winning photo- graph which highlights her outstanding lighting and darkroom skills, The ad is currently running in the News. .
