Two of the candidates in last Sunday's nomination meeting at Carson Graham Secondary school are appealing the final result. Second-place finisher. Dr. Esfendiar Pournadeali, an Iranian-Canadian. lost the nomination to Katherine Whittred by three votes. The meeting lasted seven fee hours and featured seven candidates. Iranian communicy as a whole (more than 2,000 potential voters) will boycott the Liberal party in protest. and will cast their ballots for a rival party in the _ upcoming election.” The appeal will be heard on Tuesday, April 30, in Richmond. Acommittee of six volunteer Liberals will hear the appeal with Whittred in attendance. A verbal decision will be rendered immediately following the hear- ing. Suspect BY ANNA MARIE D'ANGELO News Reporter A WOMAN suspected of steal- ing more than $109,000 from an elderly North Vancouver cancer patient was arrested on Tuesday. The accused woman, Patricia Carol Marie Gelineau, 38, of no fixed address, was in jail in Vancouver awaiting a court appearance today. North Vancouver RCMP have been looking for Gelineau tor months. Mountic investigators say that Gelineau befriended a 73-year-old woman in Liens Gate Hospital (LGH) in December, The cancer sul- ferer was in hospital for surgery. Police say the patient's house key was stolen and her upper Capilano Road home was leaders at Lorisdaie Quay on Tuesday Night. Drennan said investigators — believe Gelineau has victimized patients at St. Paul's, Vancouver, Burnaby General and St. Vincent's hospitals. According to the police, the unlawful con- finement charge relates to allegations that Gelincau and an unknown min robbed, beat. tied up and held a knife to a senior in an apart- ment in Vancouver. Police say the pair got into the home because the senior recognized Gelineau and fet her in. Gelinean had been wanted on a Canada- wide waruint by Vancouver City Police. She was arrested at her mother’s basement suite in the 5400-block of Oak Street.
