Games three and four saw North Van fall behind after two periods, only to recover for a 6-6 tie with Prince George and a 4-4 tie with Cowichan Valley. The winner of this game would finish second overall and advance to the championship final against Kamloops. The Blues jumped out to an early lead and appeared to be heading for an easy victory. Leading 6-1 early in the third period, the players then decided to add a few more grey hairs to their parents’ and coaches’ heads by let- ting Abbotsford back in the game. With a minute to go in the game, the score had reached 8-7 for North Van, who then hung on for the exciting one-goal victory. Glen Bustingame scored four goals for the Blues. The championship game was an anii-climax, as Kamloops was clearly the best team in the pro- vince. Winning their seventh con- secutive one-sided game, Kamloops scored seven goals in the third period for an easy 11-1 win. However, the boys from North Vancouver are the Greater Vancouver Champions and the Pacific Coast Champions, and are the second-best Pee Wee team in the province. Hollyburn takes Lower Mainland THE HOLLYBURN Country Club’s Pee Wee ‘‘A’’ team recent- ly won the Lower Mainland Championship. The Pee Wees defeated Hope 3-2 and Sunshine Coast 9-2 be- fore beating Squamish 5-2 in the final game. The team competed for the first time in the provincial playoffs recently, and although they didn’t win the title, they came away with the Fair Play Trophy for showing the most discipline and racking up the least penalty minutes.
