Sponsored by the North Van- couver Community Arts Council, the event will raise funds for arts scholarships for North Shore stu- dents. Donated items, to be auctioned by a Maynards auctionecr, range from a holiday cabin on Hornby Island, a sailplane glider ride, a Lions ta hald charity auction A CHARITY aucticn, sponsored by the North Vancouver Lions Club, will be held Oct. 24. Items to be auctioned include handicrafts, hobby items, services, health club workouts, baking and home preserves. There are 200 tickets available at $2 per person, which includes a free glass of wine or soft drink, cheese and crackers. The club asks that those who wish to attend in- form them as soon as possible. The group is also looking for anyone with a service or hobby to donate. The auction takes place at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Royal Canadian Legion, 123 West 15th St., North Vancouver. Most available funding in the arts is for groups or semi-professionals. Funds to assist with ballet shoes, to go to summes camp or to pay for travelling expenses to work with a prestigious company or * school are difficul! to come by and may prevent promising young ar- tists from becoming professionals.
