scheduled a candidate nominating
meeting for Tuesday, April 19 at
North Vancouver’s Handsworth
Secondary School, 1044 Edgewood
Rd.

The meeting is scheduled to
begin at 7:30 p.m. To qualify to
vote at the meeting, constituents
must be a Liberal party member as
of March 4,

Optometrists launch
Save vision week

UNDER THE. feadership of hon-
orary chairperson Wayne Gretzky,
the B.C. and Canadian Assacia-
tion of Optometrists will launch
Save Your Vision Week March 6,
with the emphasis on Precision in
Vision — aimed at many thou-
sands of Canadians with vision
problems they are unaware of,

“This year the spotlight is on ef-
ficient visual functioning,’’ said
Dr. William Jackson, president of
the B.C. Association of Optome-
trists. “Many people, including
those with 20/20 virion and even
those with glasses, can have subtle
problems with the normal func-
tioning of their visual systems.
This translates into a host of pro-
blems which people may not
associate with their vision, such as
lower performance in sports,
school, or work, avoidance of
reading and difficulty using com-
puter screens,"*
