Hooker Chemical
Plant in North Vancouver
has undergone 35 different
chlorine tests on 23 different
occasions since 1972,
Alderman Jim Ball told
District council Monday
night.

But each of these tests for
hazardous chemical waste
emissions had been pre-
arranged with Hooker, he
said.

Tuesday afternoon, re-
portedly after a Hooker

employee had told a radio
station that there had been a
chiorine spill, the radio had
checked with North Van
RCMP and the Mounties
then called the fire
department.

McDonald says the “spill”
turned out to be routine

policy on the pre-arranged
inspection of hazardous
emissions. .

Last week, Crist expressed
concern that when emissions
from Hooker Chemical were
measured, the appointment
had been set up ahead of
