Idermen dip in to pay
senior’s tax penalty

North Vancouver City
council is going to chip in
and help pay a tax penalty
imposed on senior citizen
who forgot to fill out his tax
form. .

Mr R.N. Owen wrote to
council early this month to
request that the penaity of
$27.02 be reversed because
he forgot (o deliver his com-
pleted apphcation for the
home-owner grant before
the écadline

In a report presented by
the City treasurer, last week,
he reported that the penalty
could not be waived.

Prosecutor W. Halpren
told the court that Eggertson
avoided paying over $6,000
in federal income tax by
depositing money in a
Bellingham bank in
Washington state.

He said most people do
