NV man jailed for assault

A J9-YEAR-OLD North  Van-
couver man was recently jailed 10
days for contacting a female he
had earlier assaulted two times,
Christopher Harley Foster was
jailed 28 days in April after he
pleaded guilty to charges of
assaulting the female on Oct. 3,
1992 and April 13, 1993.
‘In the most recent charge,
Foster pleaded guilty to failing to

comply with a prabation order by
contacting the female on Thurs-
day, Jane 3, in North Vancouver
City.

Foster also received 12 months’
probation in connection with the
charge,

Judge Doug Moss sentenced
Foster in North Vancouver pro-
vineial court on Thursday, June 3.

New bike route approvea in WV

THE EASTERLY part of a
new bicycle route for West
Vancouver was recently ap-
praved by West Vancouver
District Council.

Coun. Pat Boname said the
bicyele route had been under de-
velopment as a safer alternative to
tiding down the Upper Levels
Highway or the more hair-raising
curves of Marine Drive.

The western part of the route,
not yet approved, will be the more
challenging segmeat of the tide,
Boname said.

She reported that West Van-
couver is meeting with the local
real estate board, which tas
shown an interest in’ donating
much of the estimated $9,000
needed to put up the signs along
the route,

“That's $9,000 we dan't have in
the municipal budget for 1993,"
said Boname.
