North Vancouver City Fire Department firefighters respond- ed to a call to city firefighter Grant Frost’s home at 461 East 11th St. just before 7 p.m. (photo leit). : The owner’s daughter and two friends were alone in the house when they smelled smoke and the fire alarm went off. ‘‘They saw the fire coming up the rear stairs, closed the door and evacuated safely,’’ said acting chief fire prevention officer Gavin Soanes. The fire, which originated under the sundeck located at the rear of the house, caused exten- ees sive damage to the rear of the house, including fire damage to the basement bathroom, the main floor kitchen and den and the master bedroom located on the top floor at the rear of the house. There was extensive smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the house. Willy the family dog, suffering from smoke inhalation, was revived by firefighters at the scene with oxygen. A damage. cost estimate i: pending and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire drew a large crowd (above).
