His grades declined, which worried his parents when they saw his most recent report card. That led to a dispute over Terry's future. He told his father on Nov. 22 that he wanted to further his education in art college. His father, a retired jeweler, rejece- ed the notion. Wan didn’t return home after school on Nov. 23. His father found his personal phone book and called David Lee, a friend of Terry’s who lives in West Vancouver. Lee’s parents live in Taiwan. Lee told the elder Wan that Terry was at his house. Then Lee abruptly changed his story. Wan later visited Lee, who said another friend, Tony Wu, had driven Wan to 22nd Street and Marine’ Drive around mid- night. Wan was carrying two bags of clothes. Bur, according to Peter Wan, he had no credit cards or personal identification, such asa rt. He may have had as much as $40€ in cash, a gift from his grandpar- ents. The family is not aware that he had any: friends elsewhere in Canada or the U.S., though he told a female friend in West Vancouver before he went missing that he was planning to go to Boston for university. Barbara Perrault is trying to sell Ottawa on the idea of designating the Versatile Shipyards a national historic site. She visited 4 special advisor to Heritage Minister Sheiia Copps in Ottawa in’ early December, and said the staff person was quite interested in the idea.
