By Layne Christansen News Reporter layne@usnews.com BONNIE Davison is one music teacher whe doesn’t mind if her students sing off key. “We make lots of noise,” boasts the North Van music therapist. Davison, 26, is running a preschool niusic program this fall at North Shore Neighbourhood House, 225 E. 2nd St., North Van. Three ‘separate series for kids aged three to five are planned for Thursday morn- ings, Sept. 25 through Dee. To her knowledge, the program is the only one of its kind on the North Shore. ‘Talent is not an issue here. Children cf all abilities are encouraged to sign up. The whole idea is to make music fun, says Davison, who has a Bachelor of Music degree from Mt. Allison University in New Brunswick and a music therapy degree from Capilano College. “It’s a way to be with other kids and improve social skills,” she says. Children bang drums, sing songs and dance around, all the while gaining self-esteem and learning, te share and take turns. Davison, who teaches music to the hearing impaired at Vancouver Oral Cent says children with special needs are also encouraged to enrol. Class sizes are kept small, with no more than six kids to a session.
