The event was part of an exer- cise for students studying at the North Vancotver-based Puacifie Marine Training Institute (PMT). The purpose of the ex- ercise was to show that evea high-rise buildings may be safe- ly evacuated without the aid of powered machinery should the need arise. The students involy- ed were from around the Lower Mainland, Prince George, Port Alice, Saskatchewan and Washington State. They ure firefighters, pulp mill and in- dustrial workers, Some day the skills they learn may help to save lives. EMPATHETIC friendly driver needed to transport patients from their homes in North Vancouver to the cencer clinic on W. 10th Avenue in Vancouver. If you have a reliable car and are a good listener your help will be appreci- ated. Hours are flexible days, and cost of gas will be reimbursed. SENSE of esthetics? If you have a good eye for color and balance use your skills to help hang pic- tures at city hall, district hall and the courthouse on a monthly basis. Hours are one day per month on the North Shore. PATIENT sensitive male who enjoys outdoor activities will be the perfect person for sharing leisure time with a partially non- verbal 29-year-old male who likes bicycling, fishing, golfing and sharing a burger. Hours are flexi- ble evenings or weekends. LOTTO 6/49. Volunteer with B.C. Lotto and work at the desk in the main lobby of Lions Gate Hospital. The desk will be opening in January and training will be starting soon. The volunteer should be 20 years of age or over. Actual hours are fexibie, three- hour shifts Monday to Saturday. MOTHERS March needs people with good English skills to help out in the office by answering phones and assisting with some filing and typing. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon, Monday to Friday, fer one month starting immediately. Also needed are well-organized, motivated people for general office help in- cluding computer data and typing. SOCIABLE driver with a reli- able car to drive three other volun- teers from their homes to an ex- tended-care facility and back again. Volunteer should enjoy seniors.
