Yachtsmen use
new technology

WEST VANCOUVER’S
John Newton, skippered his
yacht Pachena ‘to. a Sist
finish at the recent Ad-
miral’s Cup Yacht Race off
Cowes, England.

The Admiral’s Cup is the
premier international sailing
event of 1985. Each country
racing is represented by a
team of three yachts. The
Canadian. Team, sponsored
by Pusser’s Rum, consisted
of Amazing Grace, Pachena
and Impetus.

In a recent interview,
Wink Vogel of the Royal
Vancovuer Yacht Club, said
“Canada has a good
team...this was the first time
that. the tryouts were held as
a national event in one
place. The results have given
us three first class boats to
represent our country.’’
