Burning blues

Dear Editor:

For the third weekend in a
row West Van, as befits its
Status as the country’s most
affluent community, has had
glorious weather. You could
tell this was so merely by go-
ing to’ Vancouver, or even
North Van, where the
weather: was obviously
smashing. -

* But, from these otherwise

‘benighted vantage points,
. you could also observe that a

goodly few of the West Van-
couverites were engaged in
the apparent aboriginal rite
of suffocating their
neighbours and biotting out
the sun with clouds of car-
cinogens, noxious odours
and grimy fallout caused by
the burning of their trash.

That this is allowed should
not be surprising. West Van
Council has a notoriously
ambivalent attitude towards
