general public are discussing whether
more measures can be taken to help protect
drivers.

AN ALERT North Varcouver resident saved his.
house from serious fire damage with the aid of a
garden hose Sunday evening.

The man, owner of a
house at 402 Somerset, turn-
ed the hose on fire that had
broken out in his kitchen
after turning in the alarm to
the North Vancouver City
fire department.

Because of the man’s
quick action, fire was con-
tained to the kitchen of the
house although there was
smoke damage throughout.

The fire started when oil
on the stove overheated and
burst into flames.

A 14-YEAR-OLD West Vancouver boy suffered
severe damage to one wrist and to his legs when
he fell through a plate glass window while
skateboarding on Marine Drive Sunday.

The incident occurred at
10:30 p.m. Sunday while the
young man was skateboar-

Marine Drive.

Apparently, he attempted
a maneuver on the board
and lost his balance. He hit a
brick pillar and then went
through the large display
window of a business

As well as the injuries the
youth sustained, the $330
window was destroyed, as
was a clothing display in the
window.
