In 1979, $660,239 worth of property in West Van was Stolen and $178,333 worth of property was recovered. INCREASED WORK Seventy-nine cars were stolen in West Van in 1979 and the West Van police recovered 64 missing vehicles in the municipality, but not all of these were stolen from West Van. The spokesman noted in that in 1979 there was “a significant work load in- crease,” for the West Van police. He said that there was a 20 per cent increase in the number of incidents in- vestigated by the police and there was no increase’ in manpower. According to the statistics, 15,861 incidents were reported to the police and the police investigated 14,408 of them. The spokesman said this may be an indication that West Van _ residents are reporting suspicious oc- curences more quickly and accurately than before.
