Reed ran the gruelling 48.6-kilometre race from the Eagleridge Drive exit near Horseshoe Bay to Panorama Park beach in Deep Cove (via the Baden-Powell trail) in five hours, four minutes and 15 seconds. He set.a record for the largest margin of victory, coming in 44 minutes ahcad of runner-up Terry Lewis of West Vancouver. Lewis won the masters’ division for the second con- secutive year with a 5:48.32 time. Vancouver’s Alana Prociuk passed defending women’s champion Tracy Lavin in the final quarter of the race to win the division in 6:09.09. Perennial entrant David Brown of West Vancouver fin- ished the race for his 10th time. The 86-year-old veteran finished in 119th place in 8:46.36.
