jorae 3, ANNOUNCEMENTS Couple ceiebrates 50 years LONGTIME West Vancouver res- idents, Margaret and Tom Brown, will be celebrating their 50th wed- ding anniversary in mid-August. After meeting in Stillwater, British Columbia, where Margaret taught school, the Browns tied the knot in a double wedding ceremo- ny with Margaret’s sister Joan and her husband at Canadian Memori- al Church in Vancouver. Soon after, the newlyweds moved to West Vancouver where they built their first home. “‘People wondered why they wanted to build a house right in the middle of a rain forest,’’ recalls daughter Dianne Morgan, also a resident of West Van. With the exception of the war years when Tom was stationed in Eastern Canada while on active duty with the Navy, both Tom and Margaret have resided in West Local passes away LONGTIME WEST Vancouver resident Margaret Bustin passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on July 24 in her 80th year. An active member of the West Pair to wed WEST Vancouver residents Patrick and June McCue recently announced the engagement of their daughter, Patrice, to Brian Mit- chell, son of Michael and Elizabeth Mitchell. The Mitchells are formerly - of West Vancouver, but are currently residing in Aldergrove. Patrice is a teacher with the _ Vancouver School Board, while Brian works with the highways department. Tom served on West Van coun- cil as reeve for three years, from 1947 to 1950, and ran his own re- cord and appliance business in Ambleside and Jater in Park Royal. Margaret, after raising a daugh- ter and two sons, Dianne, Fred, and Bob, returned to teaching at Hollyburn and Ridgeview schools. Since her retirement she has spent many hours with her five grand- children. Margaret and Tom will be honored at a reception at Hollyburn Country Club hosted by their family. Future plans include a trip to Eastern Europe and a cruise down the Danube. And the Browns’ key to a long, successful marriage? Daughter Dianne says it’s her parents’ strong Vancouver Seniors Centre, she is survived by brother Alan Greaves and his wife Pat and grandchildren Fred Moore and Eileen Smith.
