McKeachie always seem to
attract a tremendous
number of media for their
fail and spring travel pro-
duct launch.

Last week was no exception.
Umberto’s 1! Guardino’s was
packed with notables like
CKNW'S Bill Hughes and Warren
Barker and birthday lady Shirley
Stocker who received a surprise
candlelit birthday cake, the Pro-
vince’s Ray Chatelin and Ashley
Ford, Chris Potter, Liz Carroil,
Carol Baker and her husband,
West Van's Frank ‘“‘Dr. Tomor-
row” Ogden and the laird of Salt-
spring Island, the old sheep-
shearer himself, Jack Webster.

The news is that BA is offering
a great deal on the London
theatre package which really in-
trigued regular theatre patron and
impresario Hugh Pickett. Hugh
was dining at tf Guardino with his
good friends, North Vancouver
residents and entertainers
Charlene Rrandolini and her hus-
band Jim Hibberd, and former
TUTS star Sherril Morton ard her
daughter, Dana Freedman.

Last week’s fundraising pre-
Indy race dinner and auction,
called’ Thunder Thursday, was a
roaring success for the sponsor
and for the benefittees, the Varie-
ty Club and St. Paul's Pediatric
Projects.

The evening's emcee in pale rac-
ing blue was Phil Johnson who
introduced folks like former
Socred Speaker of the House John
Reynolds and his wife Yvonne,
who are now dividing their time
between West Van and Phoenix,
Arizona; the head man of BC
Gas, Bev Kadlec and his scin-
tillating wife Bobbie; Canuck boss
Arthur Griffiths and his petite,
pink-clad wife Joanne; EC Pav-
Corp president, the very tanned
Warren Buckley; the dapper kings
of the road, Mario and Michael
Andretti; Tourism Vancouver’s
Tom Walker and his media per-
son, the chic Alex Kerr, wife of
the oft-times morose J. Paul Mc-
Connel! who, I'm delighted to
report, was actually enjoying the
event.

BCTV’s dashing Barry
Houlihan was chatting with the
Canucks’ coach Pat Quinn and
PR man Glen Ringdal, while
Variety’s Gwen Frinton and Maud
Sandford conferred with St.
Paul’s Linda Dixen and or-
chestrator J.J. Richards of
CFUN.

The menu was also a big winner
with the sold-out crowd, offering
a tasty Cajun chicken entree ac-
companied by an Australian
Chardonnay and topped wiih a
black and white chocolate
ganache.

By the end of the evening orga-
nizers were ecstatic 70 realize that

of Commerce hosted a party recently.

Brilliant children’s entertainer
Norman Foote and his bride, the
lovely Monique Pansereau, were
married in a formal wedding cer-
emony in the sunshine last Satur-
day at St. Edmunds Catholic
Church in North Vancouver.

The bride wore a traditional
gown of ivory silk while her three
attendants were pretty in pink.

But it was probably Norman's
best man who received the most
attention. He’s the popular actor
from TV’s Knots Landing and the
former star of the St. Elsewhere
series, Bruce Greenwood!

The wedding reception for 180
guests followed at the Gleneagles
Golf Club with Monique’s mum
and dad flying in from Saskatoon
and Norm’s mum and dad driving
in from Squamish.

Earlier this week Norman left
for a new gig in Edmonton while
his new bride packs up everything
for their move to a new abode —

Christine Allen wed adman Dave
Leonard in a formal marriage cer-
emony. The bride wore a long

was architect Terry Barkley who
designed the Karen Magnussen
arena and his wife, Diana Barkley
