THE 1989-MODEL Nissan Max-
ima was the top-scoring vehicle in
this year’s Initial Quality Survey,
conducted by 2.D. Power and
Associates

Results were released this week.
Earlier this year, professional
road-testers who are members of
the. Automobile Journalists’
Association of Canada voted Max-
ima the Best New Sedan for 1989.
A short while, later, Maxima was
named Easy Maintenance Car of
‘the Year. by. Home Mechanix, 4
U.S. magazine:-

were asked to rate vehicles they’d
bought in the past year on quality,
reliability and trouble-free opera-
tion. a
At the same time, - they were
asked: to rate the makers of their
vehicles. In this category, Nissan
placed third — behind Mercedcs.
Benz and Porsche, and ahead of
Honda and Toyota.
