THE PERMANENT wave in the future of haircare products is mousse,
say two North Vancouver entreprencurs who are plunging into that mil-
lion-dollar industry.

Jon-Paul Holt and John Davis, both 38, recently launched a full line of
hair products in mousse form, a rich foam most commonly used in set-
ting hair.

“What makes it unique is that no other company is the world is doing
it,”’ said Holt, who first met Davis when they were apprenticing in a hair
salon in England 20 years ago. ‘‘! think it's just the best idea since sliced
bread."'

The slick packaging and brochures have made the industry take note:
the colorful packaging of the product recently won them the National
Graphic Design Award of Canada and an award for innovative brochure
design soon followed.

In a recent tour of California, the styling team from Holt’s Vancouver
Avant Garde hair salon representing the new mousse products was well
received.

The product has been marketed in California since October with re-
sounding results, said Holt, who noted a listing on the stock exchange
looks hopeful.

“We're gearing to do it when the time is right for our company,’’ he

said.
“What's interesting is that there are lots of products coming out in
mousse form -— major companies are doing makeup in mousse form.

We're looking at it as the most modern innovation. I think this is just the
next stage.’’
