MYSTERIES COME TO CAP BRANCH
Murder discovered in the library

THE DAYS are drawing in, the evenings are getting
colder and darker. It's time to pul away the barbecue
and the lawnmower and curl up in front of the fire
with a good book.

October is Murder Mystery’ Month at Capilano
Branch of North Vancouver District Library. Cloak-
and-dagger afficionados are invited to polish their
magnifying glasses and sharpen their wits to match
skills of deduction with the likes of Miss Jane Marple,
Nero Wolfe and Inspector Adam Dalgleish.

Throughout the month, a variety of clues will be on
display in the library, and each set of objects will

suggest a particular detective novel; contestants must
identify cach title, and book prizes will be awarded to
those displaying the greatest mystery literacy.

In addition, noted bibliographer Roy Stokes will be
at the library on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. to
speak on The Origins of British Detective Fiction.
Stokes, former director of UBC's Library School, is
known as a witty and entertaining speaker, and
mystery lovers may expect a real treat.
