GROWING TOMATOES SUCCESSFULLY
The most critical period in the life of a tomato plant is at the time of transplanting.
Individual! plants shoutd be carefully pulled apart by hand, causing as little damage as
possible to the fine hair roots. Press firmly into prepared soil beds, but not too deeply. If
the weather is warm and sunny at time of planting, a few days protection is advisable,

such as a piece of shingle or bottomless tin can; this also minimizes wind burn. An old
trick is to wrap the stem at ground level with a one inch wide piece of wax paper to
discourage cutworms. Full sun is best, and keep soil moist but not too wet. One or two

spaced applications of 4-16-16 fertilizer will double your yield. A liberal application of

~ Orego n Canada No. 1 Grade dolomite lime before planting will ensure a good PH level.
