getting on track with
its North Vancouver to
Whistler ski service.

Considering the sole road
to ski-country, the treacher-
ous Sea-to-Sky Highway
(dryly referred to as the
Whistler 500 by residents of
‘Lion’s Bay), leaves many.
would-be skiers cold, the
daily Cariboo Prospector run
to Whistler and back is a
much-welcomed service.

BC Rail is offering special
pricing between North Van
and Whistler through Apzil
25. In addition, the company
has put together a one-day
transportation and lift ticket
package ror $99 per person.

“i was surprised to see the
number of four-by-four sport
utility vehicles in the BC Rail
Station parking lot over the
last few weckends,” said BC
Rail marketing manager Jean
Cullen. “It certainly indicates
ataste for comfort and service
that a rail package can provide
local skiers.”

Passengers are offered the
same on-board service avail-
able to long-haul customers,
with breakfast and dinner
included in the fare.

happen sooner or later.

In the past three years the
wintertime activity of snow-
shoeing has undergone enor-
mous growth in popularity in
North America. Once the pre-
ferred method of transporta-
tion of voyageurs and scout
troops, snowshoes have been
embraced by the growing
legion of urban spandex
weekend warriors.

time before someone came up
with an idea to see who is the
fastest man, woman and child
on snowshoes.

Mountain spokeswoman, the
snowshoe race is just a natural
progression for the mountain’s
involvement in the popular
winter activity. There’s also the
hope that the race will raise the
profile of Grouse’s evening
snowshoe programme.
