recommends Aveda’s
Maximum Lash Mascara
($20), available in Espresso
(brown) and Raven (black).

Redheads and blondes
should stick to brown but can
enhance eyes for evening by
adding black to the tips.

Booth says the most com-
mon mistake is applying either
not enough or too much mas-
cara. She suggests three con-
tinuous strokes from base to
tip. Break the stroke halfivay
and you'll get clumping. Allow
mascara to set. Finish with an
extra stroke to the outer lashes
and let the wand rest at the tips
for a second or two.

Avoid colored mascara, like
blue or green. It'll only hide
your eyes nor enhance then.

You'll need more than soap
and water to remove mascara,
especially if it’s waterproof or
long-wearing, like Ultima II’s
Wonderwear Mascara ($18).
Look for a gentle makeup
remover with essential oils or
botanical extracts.
