A forum for non-governmental
organizations (NGO) was held Aug.
30 ta Sept. 8 in Huairou, about 60
kilometres from Beijing where the
United Nations’ Fourth World
Conference on ¥eimen was being
held simultaneously.

news reports emphasized the prob-
lems and didn’t discuss the issues.
Therefore. the main object of the
conference has been marginalized,”
said Olga Kempo. a Capilano
College instructor who attended the
conference.

Despite the persistent rain and

were made, said Kempo.
