A PROPOSED new noise bylaw, first introduced in July 1993, was brought back to West Vancouver District Council, November 7. WEST VANCOUVER DISTRICT COUNCIL By Maureen Curtis The bylaw, Coun. Diana Hutchinson explained, engendered so much community interest when it was first drafted that it took some time for municipal staff and.council members to look at all of the issues raised. “References to the sound of birds twittering have been removed,” Hutchinson quipped, referring to some of the wording in the original bylaw that created a public stir. The primary purpose of the bylaw, she emphasized, was to introduce decibel readings as a means of measurement. The bylaw would also serve to reduce the hours when construction will be allowed. If the bylaw is passed, construc- tion weekday start times will be changed from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Construction would have to be finished by 6 p.m. rather than the present wrap-up time of 7:30 p.m. The hours of construction allowed on Saturdays would be 8 a.m, to 6 p.m. The use of power equipment is allowed between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays, and from 11 a.m, to 5 p.m. on Sundays. : Some exemptions would be pro- THE WALL CENTRE GARDEN HOTEL VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA NIGHT? ‘Hows This for an Opening. : Number?
