B6 - Wednesday, February 22, 1984 - North Shore News + SENIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL WINDSOR was knocked out of the North Shore Girls Basketball Championship: playoffs last week leaving :.: eS to battle it out for the crown. Carson and Sentinel played last night (Tuesday, February 22) in the possible deciding game. The playoffs in the senior girls division began Monday, February 13 when Carson Graham beat Sentinel 61-31 (all playoff games in senior girls are at Windsor Secon- dary). Windsor defeated Hillside the same night 69-35. The double-knockout for- mat continued Tuesday, February 14, with Carson Graham handing Windsor its first loss, a 58-36 decision. This result: came 4fter Wind- sor had defeated Carson Graham twice in the league this season by scores of 51-49 and 58-54. Sentinel trounced Hillside 56-31 the same even- ing, eliminating Hillside. Then, a much improved Sentinel squad knocked (A ski Tune Ups 17 ski Waxing Windsor out of contention with a shocking 62-51 victory Thursday night. Sentinel had also been the only school to beat Windsor in league play. Part of the reason for Sen- >tinel’s resurgence has been the play of Karen Colbow who, in the game against Windsor Thursday, was ap- pearing in only her Sth game with Sentinel since coming off a knee injury suffered January Sth. If Sentinel beats Carson Graham Tuesday night that would force a second game between the two schools Thursday (February 23) for the championship.
