CALGARY MEET

All-around title
won by gymnast

NORTH VANCOUVER'S Kim Gilbert placed first on vault, beam and
floor exercise and fourth on bars, winning the novice all-around title at
the Altadore Invitational gymnastics meet held in Calgary recently.

Fellow Flicka Gym Club member Catherine Geekie was third all-
around; other Flicka competitors were Leah Augustine and Jody Juc-
ques, who was sixth on floor exercises.

The Flicka Open Team of Kristina Lonquist, Dawn Geil and Stacey
Ogilvie finished fourth.

Lonquist was second on vault and fourth on floor, Geil was third on
fault and sixth on floor, and Ogilvie was sixth on vault and fifth on
floor.

Flicka's other team of Michelle Hutchinson, Briony Lecky and Paula
G'Froerer placed fifth, with G'Frocrer picking up a sixth on vault.

At the gymnastic trials for B.C. Winter Games held in Abbotsford Jan.
10, three Flicka gymnasts qualified for Zone 5 teams.

Hutchinson will be on the women’s over-15 team, and Sarah Baldwin
and Elsa Cuadra will be members of the girls’ under-14 team,

The Altadore Invitational provided a good warm-up for the gymnasts,
who will be competing at the North Shore Invitational at B.C.1,T. Jan,
30 and 31.

Forty-eight gymnasts from Canada, the United States and England will
compete in the event.

“I’m expecting to have girls in finals in every event, but it will depend
on how the other teams are,"* said coach Janice Roddic.
