Grouse Nicuntain ski club launches membership drive THE GROUSE Mountain Tyee Ski Club (FSC) is now accepting memberships for the 1987-88 ski season. One of the area’s oldest ski clubs, TSC is currently in its 52nd year and has a membership of approx- imately 200 active skiers. The club has had its own club house on Grouse since 1938. In addition to its regular ski programs, which begin with children six years oid and up, TSC has embarked on a five-year master plan to produce skiers to com- pete in the 1992 Olympic Games. To finance the program, along with construction of a new Tyee clubhouse that will be double the size of the present clubhouse, the club has organized a Ski Fever ’87 Sweepstakes raffle that «will include a top prize of a $3,000 IT&T computer and second prize of a Peugeot racing bicycle worth an estimated $700. Other prizes include complete sets of camping and hiking equipment. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. For raffle ticket information call 985-7609 or 980-9152. The final draw for prizes will be Dec. 5 on Grouse Mountain. This special program, designed for seniors or anyone with joint problems, provides 1% hours of gentle exercises, done both on the Jand and in the water. Instructor Ingrid Baxter, who holds a masters degree in adaptive aquatics, receives support and consultation from the physiotherapy department of Lions Gate Hospital. Classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and participants should wear comfortable clothing and br- ing a bathing suit.
