singer Lorraine
McAllister, who enter-
tained millions of Cana-
dians in a local and na-
tional career which
spanned 40 years.

The 62-year-old wife of
local orchestra leader Dal
Richards died Friday in Van-
couver General Hospital
after a long illness.

Performing under her
maiden name, she started her
entertainment career in her
native Saskatoon. Her career
took her to Montreal and
Toronto — where she worked
