The charge against Didier Maxime, Paul Michot arose from the operation of a business at 152 Lonsdale Aveneue last May, known variously as The Drape Factory, Vancouver Shade and Blind. Nuance or A Division of Berry Ventures Ltd. RCMP began their in- vestigation after receiving many complaints that orders with cash advances for drapery and blind equipment were not met. Michot has been in custody since his arrest in Halifax, Nova Scotia last August, at which time police reported that he and a co- accused were picked up while working on a 303ft. steel-hulled sailboat. A search is said to have resulted in the recovery of 2,400 pounds of marine merchandise. The two were committed for trial in Vancouver County Court on 25 counts of obtaining goods by false pretences - primarily alleged to involve non-payment to merchants on the lower mainland for marine equipment received. The co-accused entered a guilty plea to 18 counts last December, while Didier last. week re-elected to appear in provincial court for trial on the same accounts. He is scheduled to appear again in court in North Van Thursday, April 28, at which time he will be sentenced on the theft charge and the court will deal with the false pretences charges. Because of the number of complaints in the cases, North Van RCMP will be circulating a form letter once the court proceedings are over.
