row, about 1,000 sports-
minded British Columbians
will gather at the Hotel
Vancouver for an evening of
entertainment, renewing old
acquaintances and, most
importantly, to pay tribute
to some very special people.

It’s the B.C. Sports Hall of
Fame and Museum's Annual
Banquet of Champions
which, this year, will be held
on May 18 at 6 p.m. The
purpose of the banquet is
threefold: to formally induct
new members into the Hall

of Fame and to enter a
deserving team on to the
Honor Roll of Outstanding
B.C. Teams, to successfully
raise funds for the operation
of the Hall of Fame (it's their
only fund raising activity
each year) and to offer
guests a fine evening's en-
tertainment.

‘Chicken Roost’
a real NSWC boost

FLYING FEATHERS and
keen competition § charac-
terized last weekend's
“Chicken Roost” at the
North Shore Winter club.

There were no butterballs
at the eight-team oldtumer
hockey tournament, but
team opinion is still being
sought on who the turkeys
were in the 13 game, three
division event.

West Vancouver's
Hollybum Oldtimers’ won
the top “A” division title
with a tight checking 3-1
decision over South Delta
Oldstylers.

“B” division gold medals
went to the NSWC's very
own Rusty Blades.

Run for fun

THE FIFTH annual Van-
couver Fun Run will take
place Sunday, May 9 at 8:30
a.m., starting at the
Brockton Oval in Stanley
Park.

The run along the Seawall
is by far the most popular
race in the Lower Mainland,
attracting thousands of

runners, from young
children to hardened
athletes

categories. including a
novelty one, which features
pnzes for unique or unusual
costumes
